Parking sensors problem

On my 64 plate s-cross, every time it rains heavy or for prolonged periods my reverse parking sensors don't work??? Just give me a long low tone beep then nothing.
When it dry's up they work again???
Why do I always end up with a car with annoying intermittent faults lol

if you can gain access to the control unit inside your rear panels and view it clearly.when the system is giving the long beep and for a few minutes after there will be a fault code displayed.E1-E4 that will tell you the sensor circuit that is giving you your fault.its usually just 1 sensor

I parked up next to another s-cross the other day and noticed it had different style parking sensors to my car?? My sensors are sunk in a few millimetres and one of them pushes in if I'm not carefull while washing the car??
It seems suzuki use a more domed shaped sensor on the newer s-cross.
Removing the interior panels in the boot I presume to access the control unit sounds like hard work though to me lol.

That's interesting cos the Suzuki techie that fitted mine went to great lengths to warn me not to apply much pressure to the sensors when cleaning the car. He seemed concerned about not doing it.

When I fitted a set a few years back I opted for manual activation so I rigged them to a switch and simply turned them on if I felt I needed them.

I have just bought a 2016 SX4 1.6 petrol and am getting the same symptoms as 'Yorkshire pud'. The system works fine, but after heavy rain or a car wash when you select reverse you get a long tone, not the usual short 2 tone blip. Then as no reverse - nothing, no warnings at all. I took it to the local Suzuki dealer in Alnwick Northumberland and they said it was not a standard fitting but an after market one - their solution to replace at £185 !! I've looked at a few other 2015/2016 cars and they have exactly the same rear sensor arrangement, i.e. small sensor face 17mm diameter, fitting into a larger rim or collar and colour coded to the bumper, so I'm not sure if Suzuki's statement is entirely true as I was still just within the 3 year warranty period.
Anyway I can live with the problem - the long tone lets you know when it isn't working, the 2 tone blip tells you it is fine.

in writing, to place on record that the problem arose before end of warranty, and to enquire whether your car was supplied with the sensors fitted.

We have the 2018 Scross SZT with the sensors and they work perfectly but our other car a Celerio also with sensors does the same as yours is doing....sometimes! Long beep as if it is faulty, if you deselect reverse and then reselect it normally works correctly!

Pleasant letter received this morning from Suzuki HQ saying that 'Yes, my car was fitted with parking sensors from new. These would have been fitted at the dockside, once the vehicle had arrived in the UK' What they cannot ascertain is whether the sensors fitted to the car are the original parts. They have been in contact with the local Suzuki dealer and HQ want me to bring the car in to ascertain if they are indeed the original parts, once they have been inspected they the local garage will be able to discuss this matter with the Suzuki Warranty team.

So, how the local garage is going to determine if this is the original fitting or not, will be interesting. They have already said the system is not original equipment - but do they know what was fitted at a dockside 3+ years ago - I doubt it.

Anyway at least they have said bring it in and they will have another look.

Unfortunately Suzuki HQ have declined to make a financial 'goodwill gesture' towards the cost of the faulty sensor. I had proved that the car had a full Suzuki annual service history and had the annual bodywork inspection was also stamped up to date. The claim was put to them before the 3 year warranty had expired - but no.

The local dealer has offered to fit the replacement at a much reduced cost, basically no charge for colour coding the replacement sensors and no labour charge - pretty good of them.

Well, at least I tried.
