50mpg !!!!

Hi All

Just been looking on ebay at carry vans and was interested in the description of 50 mpg+ Hmmmm.
Think I need to get my Silver Beauty into the garage asap for a tune up!!!!!!

Yes, as recorded in detail elsewhere on this forum*, I regularly get 45mpg with my 55reg Carry campervan but I was dubious about that claim in the eBay advertisement. I note that otherwise the vehicle seems fair value for the current going price although it is 'X' reg.

I have a 55 plate and only get 33 mpg average, Only on long runs can I get 40 mpg, :cry:

I note the Carry van offering an alleged 50+ mpg did not sell 'first time around' so it has been put up for sale again. See:- eBay item number:112384259764

It does appear to be in good condition and has a rear window-wiper which must be a later addition as the early 1.3 Carrys did not have this as a standard fitment.

I can get up to 50mpg on the motorway or similar by sticking to 50mph above which the brick aerodynamics of these vans start to affect fuel consumption dramatically. Daily pottering around I may get 40-45mpg, less in traffic.

My Carry is an 04 with around 26k on the clock.

As for the eBay item claim of +50mpg I would just call bullshit on that one...
